Balenciaga Resort 2011

So this year, Nicolas Ghesquière unveiled 29 gorgeous looks including metallic frocks and peony colored maxi-shirt bohemian dresses, along with some patterned pastel bathing suits and mini-dresses. This is definitely a new turn for the designer, as we get to see how something can be interpreted in so many ways. Some of the pieces can be considered futuristic, to say the least, displaying a grand amount of metallic & iridescent fabrics as well as silver linings.
Many of his looks this season scream Bohemian, like something straight out of Long Island in the 60s'.Ghesquière referred to his pieces as "techno boheme", in the aspect that many of his pieces, including the wonderful 60s' style bolero vests were modernized with the use of metallic fabric. The neon make-up is a big plus here, as it accentuates the lightness of the fabric colors, and truly makes them pop.
